In
1984 PIP, Pulsating Irrigation Products introduced its first
pulsating irrigation system, which became known as the bottle
irrigation system [US Patent 4,938,420]. This pulsating
irrigation system, which operates by gravity, is used mainly for
irrigating trees.
In
1990 PIP introduced its PIP Pulsators series 100 [US Patent 5,507,436].
The PIP Pulsators series 100 have been used since 1993 for humidity
control, cooling and irrigation in greenhouses. In addition the
PIP Pulsators series 100 are used for irrigating trees. In a test
plot conducted by the University of Florida a drip irrigation
system that was irrigating a 40-acre plot of citrus was converted
to pulsating micro system in which the flow of each Pulsator was
controlled by a 12-liter/hour dripper. The results show drastic
production increase, additional net income per acre, and savings
of large amounts of water. PIP is now producing different Pulsators
with different innovated spraying devices for irrigating trees
and bushes
PIP
Pulsators series 100 and PIP Pulsators series 300 can be used
with new strip jets that wet a strip of about 0.6 meters wide
and 8 meters long. Each pulsating strip jet can be used to irrigate
two trees.
The
PIP Pulsators series 300 can be used also with different spraying
devices that were previously used only to irrigate turf, and our
PIP Pulsators series 500 can be assembled on a ½
nipple, eliminating the use of spikes and flexible tubes. Such
Pulsators are especially useful for irrigating avocados, pecans
and similar trees.
The
PIP Pulsators, which can operate at super low flows of a dripper,
are available with different Micro-Jets, Micro-Spinners, insert
protected spinners, misters and sprayers.
The
flow of a PIP Pulsating device can be controlled by a low flow
of namely 12 l/h dripper, and operate with a rotating sprinkler
that sprays water to a diameter of about 12 meters. Such pulsating
sprinklers can be used for irrigation and for cooling different
crops. In addition the PIP Pulsators can operate with a floating
rotating sprinkler [US Patent 5,803,365]
During
1995 to 2005 several million pulsating strip jets type 100 were
sold for frost protection and for cooling vineyards.
In
2006 PIP introduced its improved Pulsator Series 200 [US Patent
5,727,733] with a new innovated strip jet.
Since 2006, more than 500,000 of the new pulsating strips jets
have been operating in areas such as California and in Chile for
frost protection and for cooling vineyards.
The Pulsators series 200 and the Pulsators series 300 are used
also for cooling and for frost protection of apples, blueberries,
and similar crops.
The
PIP Pulsators are also being used for cooling poultry and other
livestock.
In
addition to the Pulsators, which are used for agriculture applications,
PIP is producing also Pulsators for irrigating turf. Our latest
developments include pop-ups, and pulsating pop-up sprayers and
sprinklers with a flexible stem, and a new innovated drip system
in which a single drip lateral wets an area of about 12 meters
wide. These innovative products are now being tested in different
locations.
